  • Responsibilities

    Summary: Performs a thorough review of legal documentation ensuring that risks are being managed through the consistent application of the bank’s policies, procedures as well as the adherence to all state and federal regulations. Evaluates results, provides feedback to the Loan Processors, Commercial Loan Officers, RA’s and/or management. Recommends process improvements to management. Assists in correcting operational inefficiencies and compliance gaps within the department. 

     

    Essential Functions:

    • Reviews and analyzes Credit Approval Notices, along with legal and other supporting documentation to ensure compliance to the credit approval, internal policy and procedures, and government regulations.  
    • Reviews and analyzes all necessary entity documents to determine the correct authorized signers have been identified in the transaction and the necessary resolutions are created.
    • Identifies deficiencies in supporting documentation, identifies other potential problems making recommendation for corrective action prior to a loan closing or prior to giving the clear to close.
    • Ensures that the documentation prepared will perfect the banks lien position as well as protect the bank from deficiencies with all Commercial & Industrial, Commercial Real Estate, SBA and other Commercial Loan product types.
    • Responsible for the review of attorney-prepared documentation for standard to moderately complex deals.  Refers highly complex deals to the VP Commercial Loan Ops for review.
    • Assists in training staff in various areas within the department.
    • May perform the second review of loans boarded and funded onto the host system.
    • Monitors Exception Reports and takes steps to follow up, collect or correct trailing items needed to complete the file and perfect the banks lien interests.  May follow up with the Loan Officer, the RA, Title Companies, Legal Counsel and/or Borrower as needed. 
    • Works with the commercial operations management team to create and maintain strong, proactive culture of compliance to bank policies, department procedures, and applicable state and federal regulations.
    • Develops and maintains expertise on laws and regulations applicable to the business unit, and maintains a strong working knowledge of department procedures.
    • Performs a complete CRA & HMDA review of all applicable Commercial Loans to ensure compliance to all regulations and procedures
    • Collaborates with department manager and/or VP Commercial Loan Operations on development of corrective action plans for an.y identified quality control, compliance weaknesses, or operational inefficiencies.
    • May serve as a Senior Loan Processor/Documentation Specialist as needed.
    • All other reasonable duties as assigned.

     

    Qualifications

    Required Education and Experience:

    • Strong computer skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite;
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
    • Attention to detail and strong analytical skills;
    • Minimum 3 years commercial loan processing/doc prep experience;
    • Strong understanding of commercial loan products, documentation requirements, and applicable regulations;
    • Strong understanding of legal entity documents, such as Operating Agreements and Corporate Bylaws;
    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.

    Preferred Education and Experience:

    • 3 or more years’ experience using Laser Pro or equivalent software;
    • 5 or more years’ experience in banking. 

     

    Requirements for performing Essential Functions:

    On the job the employee may physically be required to bend, sit, walk, use finger movements, handle objects (manual dexterity), and/or carry/lift loads up to 25lbs. On the job the employee must mentally be able to read/comprehend, write, perform calculations, communicate orally, reason, and analyze.
