  • Responsibilities

    Summary: Performs compliance monitoring, evaluates results, and reports feedback. Researches new laws to determine how to best communicate information, implements policies/procedures, and evaluates risk areas as assigned.

    Essential Functions:

    • Assists in creating and maintaining a strong, proactive culture of compliance
    • Performs consumer compliance reviews/audits as scheduled for area of responsibility under the Compliance Monitoring Program. Visits assigned bank departments to make observations, ascertain and enhance employees’ compliance knowledge, review paperwork, and verify proper disclosures are on hand.
    • Prepares written report findings for assigned compliance monitoring. Follows up with responsible parties to ensure corrective action was taken. Reports findings to Compliance Officer.
    • Collaborates with business unit on development of corrective action or remediation plans for any identified compliance weaknesses, as needed.
    • Uses experience and judgment to analyze and evaluate corrective action plans.
    • Develops and maintains expertise on laws and regulations applicable to the Business Line and considered within the Program scope.
    • Collaborates to design processes that comply with applicable laws and regulations, regulatory guidance, and emerging compliance trends including creating and implementing effective preventive and detective internal controls.
    • Researches new regulations to identify the bank's area of responsibility under each act as assigned.
    • Analyzes, interprets, and communicates changes to applicable federal and state laws and regulations as well as significant industry and legal trends to the Business Line. Partners with the Business Line to implement or revise processes to address the changes.
    • As directed by the Compliance Officer, authors and/or translates compliance-related handouts, disclosures, and training materials to convey important details to a widespread audience. Works with training department to ensure new and/or revised regulations are implemented into standard training courses and materials.
    • Assists in identifying compliance risks and emerging issues applicable to ongoing and proposed business activities.
    • Assists in developing procedures and disclosures that meet the requirements of compliance regulations for new products and services being introduced as assigned.
    • Under the direction of the Compliance Officer, contributes to the development and maintenance of Compliance Risk Analysis.
    • All other reasonable duties as assigned.  


    Required Education and Experience:

    • Strong computer skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite;
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
    • Thorough understanding of federal compliance regulations for financial institutions;
    • Knowledge of business operations;
    • Bachelor’s Degree in a related area or equivalent work experience.

    Preferred Education and Experience:

    • CRCM certification

    Requirements for performing Essential Functions:

    On the job the employee may physically be required to bend, sit, stand, walk, push/pull, reach above shoulder level, and use finger movements. On the job the employee must mentally be able to read/comprehend, write, perform calculations, communicate orally, reason, and analyze.
