  • Responsibilities

    Summary:  Designs and develops training materials and online curriculum.  Conducts training classes for bank employees.  Assists the Employee Development Supervisor in evaluating training effectiveness.

     

    Essential Functions:

    Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the following essential functions.

    • Designs, develops and maintains materials such as online courses, manuals, participant guides, training updates, and quick reference guides. Incorporates the use of varied delivery alternatives, including self-study, instructor-led, computer-based, web-enabled and other options.  Works closely with business unit managers to maintain existing training modules. Ensure the existing modules remain current, of high quality, and still meet desired learning objectives.
    • Acts as a mentor and assists all Employee Development Specialists in developing, conducting, and evaluating training.
    • Maintains cross-training to conduct new hire classroom training for both Retail Banking classes; regularly rotates in to conduct classes. Utilizes a variety of instructional techniques and formats, such as: role play, simulations, team exercises, group discussions, videos and lectures.
    • Supervises trainees for the duration of training, which includes monitoring and documenting attendance, behavior and student progress. Provides coaching and developmental feedback, and reports the trainee's progress to the appropriate manager during and following training sessions.
    • Determines employee’s pass/fail status in training programs and evaluates trainee’s potential for long-term success.
    • Evaluates training effectiveness by assessing application of learning to job performance; reports results and recommendations to Employee Development Supervisor.
    • Maintains knowledge of areas of instruction with periodic involvement in branches or departments. Coordinates with supervisors and peers to accomplish team and bank goals.
    • Attends seminars for knowledge advancement and to update current information.
    • May administer learning management system (LMS) and track online course curriculums.  This includes coordinating and tracking employee enrollment, participation, and satisfactory course completion.  Provides reports to management as needed.
    • Frequent local travel is required.
    • All other reasonable duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    Required Education and Experience:

    • Strong computer skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite;
    • Excellent verbal communication skills, including advanced group facilitation and presentation skills;
    • Advanced writing skills, including strong editing and design/formatting skills;
    • Minimum 1 year experience as an Employee Development Specialist I (or similar role);
    • Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.

     

    Preferred Education and Experience:

    • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or equivalent work experience.
    • 2 years’ experience in content development, preferably with creating web-based training in Articulate or equivalent eLearning application;
    • 5 years banking, customer service, and/or sales experience in a training role;

    Requirements for performing Essential Functions:

    On the job, the employee may physically be required to bend, sit, use finger movements, and/or handle objects (manual dexterity).  The position requires good eyesight and hearing, and frequent operation of a motorized vehicle. On the job the employee must mentally be able to read/comprehend, write, perform calculations, communicate orally, reason, analyze, and multi-task.
