  • Responsibilities

    Job Summary:  Manages network administrator staff and is accountable for functionality of network hardware, software, servers, database systems and voice systems.  Interface with hardware/software vendors regarding new product and services, on-going support issues/problems.  Monitors quality of network and server hardware and software applications’ performance in accordance with defined service levels.  Ensures recoverability of all systems, software and data.

     

    Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

      • Manages processes and work flow of network administrator staff using best practice procedures and software tools in order to provide effective and timely problem resolution to bank departments.  Ensures 24/7 support for assigned systems.
     
      • Plans for and manages the implementation and on-going maintenance of server operating systems, network hardware, network security configurations, voice systems and database applications for the entire network in accordance with the bank’s technical policies, standards and application software requirements.  Maintains advanced knowledge of domain infrastructure design and best practices for server operating systems and databases.
     
      • Determines and implements performance and capacity benchmarks for all assigned equipment/systems and processes in accordance with defined service levels; provides regular reporting of such to management, and makes recommendations for change or improvement.
     
      • Plans for and manages the design and configuration of all internet accessible systems.  This includes, but is not limited to, security hardware and software, internet servers, routers, switches, firewalls and remote access systems.  Ensures best practice design in order to provide immediate failover, recovery and sustainability for all systems.
     
      • Ensures the development and update of technical reference documentation for all assigned systems.  Includes, but is not limited to, hardware design, configuration and operating dependencies.
     
      • Ensures the development and implementation of a technical and logical security strategy in accordance with bank policies.  Ensures that the technical security posture of the network and server systems are consistent with best practices and regulatory requirements.
     
      • Plans, designs and implements necessary network infrastructure such as power, racks, wiring, etc. for all assigned systems.
     
      • Evaluates and records staff performance and provides day-to-day supervisory support.  Develops training plans for self and staff that are consistent with company needs and priorities.  Continually assesses staff and technology resources considerate of company business objectives/demands and presents recommendations for change/improvement to management. 
     
      • Responsible for the testing and implementation of vendor services and software updates as required.  Interacts regularly with vendors regarding system problems and performance issues. Escalates on-going problems to management.
     
      • Provides advanced troubleshooting support to Network Administrator personnel.   
     
      • Conducts research into new products, applications, and hardware, and provides purchase recommendations to management.
     
      • Plans and implements IS projects in coordination with other IT departments.
     
      • Oversees the design, planning, implementation and testing of Business Continuity solutions and systems.  Participates on associated Business Continuity Planning committees.
     
      • Administers support to systems that include, but are not limited to, routers, switches, servers, firewalls, voice systems, server operating systems, data storage systems, backup hardware and software, file transfer, wide area network communication systems and network redundancy systems.
     
    • All other reasonable duties as assigned.  

    Qualifications

    Required Qualifications:

    • 5 – 7 years of network admin, with experience in switching, routing, virtual server infrastructure, backup replication, voice over IP, mobile device management, security appliances, and patch management. 
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills is required;
    • Minimum of 3-5 years supervisory experience in technical or related area is required;
    • Current Microsoft MCSE and a current Certification(s) in router, switch, and security technologies required (e.g. Cisco, Shoretel, Extreme Networks, or other comparable); and
    • Bachelor’s Degree in computer related discipline or minimum of 6 years equivalent work experience is required.

    Requirements for performing Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

     

    On the job the employee may physically be required to bend, sit, walk, use finger movements, handle objects (manual dexterity), and/or carry/lift loads up to 25lbs.  On the job the employee must mentally be able to read/comprehend, write, perform calculations, communicate orally, reason, and analyze.
